Often, but not always. Flamingos use the shallow lagoon around the island depending on season and tide. Treat the flamingos as a possible bonus; most people book it for a long boat day with swimming and lunch.
The pirate-ship trips to Flamingo Island are by far the most booked, typically a full day of about six to seven hours. If you want something calmer or shorter, look at the catamaran and dolphin-watching offers – and note that dolphin sightings are never guaranteed.
The Ksar Ghilane and Tataouine day trips run around ten hours, most of it in a 4WD or minibus, so it is a long day. Two-day trips with a night in a desert camp exist if you would rather split the drive. Pickup times are on each booking page.
Minimum age, licence and experience rules differ by operator and are stated on each booking page – we do not list a general age. Quad and buggy tours last about one and a half to two hours; horse rides about two hours and suit people who can already ride.
If you stay on Djerba, book the tours that start here – pickup at your hotel is common and the offer page says so. Tours from Tunis, Sousse or Hammamet cover the north of Tunisia and are a long drive away, so we do not list them.
