From Djerba airport to your hotel: taxi at the rank or a pre-booked transfer?
Updated October 18, 2026 · 4 min read
In short. For most arrivals the simplest answer is a taxi from the rank in front of the terminal. If you want the price and the driver settled before you land, the most reviewed pre-booked transfer is “From Djerba Airport To Djerba Hotel: PRV & VIP Transfer”, €20, rated 4.6 from 150 reviews: see dates and prices for the airport transfer. Read the price line below before you decide, because it is listed per person.
How far it is
Djerba-Zarzis airport is on the island. Airport guides give about 9 km and 10 to 15 minutes to Houmt Souk, the main town, and 20 to 25 km and under 30 minutes to the hotels around Midoun, which is where most of the beach zone is. The two guides do not agree on the exact distance, so treat the figures as a range. One of them states there is no public bus from the airport.
The taxi rank
Airport guides describe a rank in front of the terminal with metered taxis. The fares they quote are about 30 Tunisian dinars to Houmt Souk and about 50 dinars to a hotel in the Zone Touristique near Midoun, which one guide converts to roughly €8 and €14. We could not check these figures against an official tariff, so take them as a guide to the order of magnitude, and ask the driver for the price or to start the meter before you get in.
The taxi is per car, not per person. That matters when you compare it with the transfer.
The pre-booked transfer
| Option | Duration | Price | Rating | What the description says |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Djerba Airport To Djerba Hotel: PRV & VIP Transfer | not stated | €20 per person | 4.6 · 150 reviews | “no taxi lines”, air-conditioned vehicle, from or to the airport |
| Djerba airport to Hotel Transfer | 30 minutes | €20 per person | 4.6 · 61 reviews | from the airport to any hotel on the island |
| Private transfer from or to airport | 61 minutes | €30 per group of up to 3 | no reviews yet | “fast and economical” private transfer |
| Taxi Transfer from Any Hotel to Djerba Airport | 45 minutes | €35 per person | 4.8 · 4 reviews | the other direction: hotel to airport |
The two transfers with real numbers of reviews are the first two, both €20 and both rated 4.6. They are listed per person: check on the booking page whether that covers one passenger or the vehicle. If it is per person, two travellers pay €40 and a family of four €80, several times what the rank charges for a whole car, according to the figures above. The third is priced per group of up to three, which makes it the one to compare with a taxi if you travel as a family, but it has no reviews yet. The last one is for the way home. For a single traveller arriving at night, or for anyone who wants a name on a sign, a pre-booked driver at €20 is a reasonable price.
What we cannot tell you
The description says nothing about waiting time, luggage, child seats or what happens if the flight is late. Ask the operator. Many holiday packages already include the airport transfer; look at your booking before you buy a second one.
Do you need a car?
Not for a week at a hotel on the beach: many excursions on Djerba include hotel pickup. If you want to drive yourself around the island, or to the mainland, you can compare rental cars for Djerba. We do not quote rental prices or insurance terms here. Check the excess and the deposit with the rental company before you book.
Our recommendation
Take the taxi from the rank if you are two or more people and only need to reach the hotel: it is the cheaper way, if the quoted fares are right. Take the pre-booked transfer if you arrive alone or late, or if you want the matter settled before you leave home, and check whether €20 is per person first.
